We’ve all done it. We reach for our shirt sleeve to clean the lenses on our glasses without rinsing them with water or cleaning solution. Opticians say this is one of the leading causes of scratched lenses. To avoid this, our eye doctor recommends rinsing your frames and lenses in warm water with a small amount of dish soap added to each lens. Work up a lather with your fingers and then rinse the lenses again. Dry with a microfiber towel. Cleaning solution is another great option - at our Hamilton, MT eye clinic, we recommend spraying both sides of the lenses and wiping them with a microfiber cloth. Be sure to wash your cloths on a regular basis to avoid any build up that could scratch your lenses while cleaning. They can be washed with any laundry load that DOES NOT contain fabric softener.
